Very early in my experience of civil office, I learned quickly that people not politics make progress happen. You can be influential as a private individual. An ordinary citizen committed to contributing to the welling of their community by being available to support those engaged in public office with the duty and responsibility to safeguard the interest of the community or by participating in projects or initiatives for the public benefit.
